DIY STATEMENT RIBBON NECKLACE! stylish on a budget!

Yet again.. ive been lacking in the blogging department but ive been incredibly busy this past few weeks. Ive started a new job which is taking up surprisingly a large amount of my time as im trying to save up for the festive season! which i am rubbish at doing so i will most likely end up saving 0% of my wages but hey ho its worth a try right?

Ive also been working on both my digital and photography portfolio as its university time! and the time for applying for university. So ive been spending a lot of time doing new styling shoots for my application. But im trying my best to get back up on the blogging horse! ( SOUNDED much better in my head) and start blogging at least 3-4 times each week again now im all sorted. And this post has been waiting to be done for some time so i thought since i have the time i may as well post!

I recently found a book called " chic on a shoe string" showing you how to make clothing, accessories and home decorations on a small budget and you get to make them all yourself which is even more fun! and you can make incredible accessories for a tiny price! which i love but being able to make them yourself is even better. So i decided to make this vintage inspired ribbon flower necklace but changed up the colours a little to red white and blue! so here's a step to step guide on how to make your very own ribbon necklace.

You'll need -

8 buttons, of your choice, but not to heavy!

approximately 8 metres of ribbon, in the colour of your choice

Strong glue and a needle and thread in your chosen colours

Firstly start by making 12 small loops with the ribbon and sewing it all together but not to tightly as you will need to pull out the ribbon to create your flower.

Then pull out to create your flower and then use a small pea sized amount of super glue to hold the flower together,

then sew on your button using your chosen coloured thread.

Repeat this method until your have a total of 12 flowers.

Then to attached all the ribbon flowers together by stitching the flowers together from each of the petals. Using the same coloured thread so the thread is un noticeable. You can change the layout of the flowers depending on your chosen design.

Then finally attach ribbon onto the top two flowers to create the neck fastening. I added a simple bow to my necklace to save time but you could add a fastening or press stud if you choose.

This is one of the simplest necklaces to make except for it isnt for someone who isnt patent as it does take time to perfect the flowers from the ribbon but it is worth it in the end. And it cost me around £3 to make so anyone who wants a statement piece for less this definitely does the trick.

I hope you enjoyed this post! and you give this necklace a go! i am hoping to try out diy projects which i hope to be posting soon!

LATEST SHOOT! " NEW ENGLAND"

Hey guys and doll! so i have to first apologise for my long absence from blogging due to work commitments and university applications since ive been a super busy time recently bloggings had to take a back seat a little bit! but im back and as you all know im a budding stylist and  ive just completed my next photo shoot " NEW ENGLAND" which was of course originally inspired by all things Scottish taking traditional tartans and adding a twist by adding sequins and putting a bit of a grunge spin on the looks! of course my shoot was originally inspired by a shoot from British vogue from all the way back in 2008! which in my opinion was when vogues editorials where still inspiring!

And as you all know my shoots are never dull, im a more is more kinda girl when it comes to styling up shoots. So this one is no exception. I have added my favourite images from the shoot but to see the whole shoot you can see it over on my facebook page - amber bryan-smith

RECENT SHOOT! - " pshchedelic opulance"

Hey dolls! Today's post is an exiting one! as you all know i am  an inspiring editorial stylist. I love creating quirky eccentric photo shoots in my stare time to go towards to my styling portfolio. I also not at all into the whole "minimalism" trend i hate nothing more than opening a fashion magazine and seeing pages upon pages of boring fashion editorials that feature looks of minimalism and everything being pale and the clothing being all shades of beige, grey and white. Because to me the point in a fashion editorial is to inspire and to get people thinking about fashion and outfits i love being inspired by fashion editorials not bored by them! that's why for one i NEVER use minimalism or plain white backdrops when i shoot and style my photo shoots. And two i stopped reading British vogue and started reading Italian vogue because Italian vogue inspired me where as British vogue just bored me and did everything but inspire me! So that's why i love to create exiting and colourful fashion images because i dream to inspire people with my way of working.

So i recently did a little photo shoot with my friend who can i say is NOT a model. Who knew?! i wouldn't know by looking at these photos she isn't a model. She did so amazingly and trust me shooting with me can be confusing because i am not the worlds best communicator. So ive gotta give her praise for that!

So the shoot was just in my bedroom and i took inspiration for this shoot by researching existing fashion editorials using pinterest and then taking ideas from this for a set or location and i then research trends and existing editorial trends and go from there deciding which theme i want to go for and then exploring and creating from there which ive gotta say is my favourite part! this shoot was inspired by numerous fashion editorials as a mix there was an original image i was inspired by this i went from there choosing the "print clash" trend. All clothing as usual sourced by me and all from my personal collection.

This shoot is called " Psychedelic opulence" which to be honest me and the model (sarah) couldn't think of a name for this shoot. Because of the mix of styles i really didn't have a clue i normally come up with a style and theme and then name my shoot before i shoot. But i didn't this time and im glad i didn't as i would never have thought of the name! i was looking for names online and came across a written article called " psychedelic beauty" and then picked out the work opulence within the article and just added them together to create my shoot name. Which im more than happy with!

I decided to create three different looks for the shoot using my theme and trend " print clash" mixing prints and colours which completely clash but some how work in perfect harmony!

I decided to completely cover my bed with all my patterned scarf's, dresses and shirts to re create the editorial image i was originally inspired by. As if the model was lying on all clothes and it wasn't a bed at all and i hope i achieved that?!
