RECENT SHOOT! - " pshchedelic opulance"

Hey dolls! Today's post is an exiting one! as you all know i am  an inspiring editorial stylist. I love creating quirky eccentric photo shoots in my stare time to go towards to my styling portfolio. I also not at all into the whole "minimalism" trend i hate nothing more than opening a fashion magazine and seeing pages upon pages of boring fashion editorials that feature looks of minimalism and everything being pale and the clothing being all shades of beige, grey and white. Because to me the point in a fashion editorial is to inspire and to get people thinking about fashion and outfits i love being inspired by fashion editorials not bored by them! that's why for one i NEVER use minimalism or plain white backdrops when i shoot and style my photo shoots. And two i stopped reading British vogue and started reading Italian vogue because Italian vogue inspired me where as British vogue just bored me and did everything but inspire me! So that's why i love to create exiting and colourful fashion images because i dream to inspire people with my way of working.

So i recently did a little photo shoot with my friend who can i say is NOT a model. Who knew?! i wouldn't know by looking at these photos she isn't a model. She did so amazingly and trust me shooting with me can be confusing because i am not the worlds best communicator. So ive gotta give her praise for that!

So the shoot was just in my bedroom and i took inspiration for this shoot by researching existing fashion editorials using pinterest and then taking ideas from this for a set or location and i then research trends and existing editorial trends and go from there deciding which theme i want to go for and then exploring and creating from there which ive gotta say is my favourite part! this shoot was inspired by numerous fashion editorials as a mix there was an original image i was inspired by this i went from there choosing the "print clash" trend. All clothing as usual sourced by me and all from my personal collection.

This shoot is called " Psychedelic opulence" which to be honest me and the model (sarah) couldn't think of a name for this shoot. Because of the mix of styles i really didn't have a clue i normally come up with a style and theme and then name my shoot before i shoot. But i didn't this time and im glad i didn't as i would never have thought of the name! i was looking for names online and came across a written article called " psychedelic beauty" and then picked out the work opulence within the article and just added them together to create my shoot name. Which im more than happy with!

I decided to create three different looks for the shoot using my theme and trend " print clash" mixing prints and colours which completely clash but some how work in perfect harmony!

I decided to completely cover my bed with all my patterned scarf's, dresses and shirts to re create the editorial image i was originally inspired by. As if the model was lying on all clothes and it wasn't a bed at all and i hope i achieved that?!

Recent styling projects - Editorial style images

So as you all know i am an inspiring stylist of the editorial kind. I remember one of my favourite editorials was a piece by Annie Lebovitz which was Alice and wonderland themed and featured fashion designers such as John Paul Gaultier and Karl Lagerfeld as the characters from the book. Which was so magical and opened my eyes to editorial fashion. And another by Miles Aldridge for Italian Vogue called "Extravagant Sophisticated lady" It was so glamorous! Which made me decide as much as i love styling friends and having a future of styling people in everyday outfits that's not me. The kind of stylist i aspire to be is the editorial kind a on set stylist for fashion editorial or advertisements.. Where you work to a brief or a theme depending on current trends, future trends or even to create a trend! I have also from the age of 15 knew i was supposed to go into fashion there was always something about it that i adored. And felt right at home when in a fashion environment or even just flicking through the pages of vogue or Elle i knew it was something i was destined to do. As cheesy and ridiculous as that sounds. I always feel with fashion when people ask you what you want to do and you tell them styling they look at you as if your stupid as if its not a proper job. Or your just ridiculous for wanting to do that because your never in a million years going to be able to do something like that. And yes, i do know that styling is a hard thing to get into and its not going to happen over night or even in years! but its something that i am willing to work towards  because editorial fashion is an art form! it isn't just dressing a person in something that suits them or there shape because its not about that its about having a beautiful couture piece or something make out of any material to any brief and being able to work with that to create a story. Because that's what its all about isn't it? an editorial is created to inspire and supposed to make you think and sometimes you think its ridiculous but that's what fashions all about its not meant to be normal or average.

And over all i enjoy creating something that isn't meant to be worn on the streets or even worn at all. It can be as crazy or as normal as you want it to be And above all the model cant complain about a thing, because she is  just the clothes hanger there to show off the clothes. I have always loved putting outfits together and working with different themes and locations And for a recent project for my foundation diploma in art and design which i ended up choosing to take fashion as a specialist area. And ended up creating my project around editorial fashion and chose the theme " Unexpected Glamour" Which was inspired by a editorial from Vanity fair which featured Lady gaga dressed up in gorgeous couture in unexpected places where glamour isn't usually found.

This then inspired a series of photos using a model posing in a range of different over the top eccentric outfits in un glamorous places. Which then made up a series of images towards my final piece for the project.

Inspired by the original images i created my own images using the launderette location and used my prom dress. I created the head dress made out of cellophane inspired by Dior couture. All clothes used in all shoots where my own.

The second Set of editorial images i created were inspired by an editorial from Italian vogue which was set on a high contrast childrens playground where the models are posed on the children's swings and slides. I took inspiration from this setting my images in high contrast and also set my images in a playground.

I love the contrast of the images and how the model was wearing bright colour pop clothing that went with the high contrast and colours of the playground. As if she almost fits in almost as if she is a child and is at home there.

My third shoot was inspired by Japan and the Geisha I took inspiration by the Geisha make-up but gave it a modern twist. And in keeping with my theme i shot the images in a local bar.

My final shoot was inspired by a classic shot from the 90s and from British Vogue and was a must in my series of images! I also took a lot of inspiration from the 50s and the pin up girl. Which i think influenced it being my favourite set of images by far!
